What is Specific Phobia?

Specific Phobia is excessive, intense and persistent fear in the presence of (or the anticipation of) specific objects or situations. Typical situations/objects include driving, bridges, flying, heights, animals, injections, or blood/gore. Exposure to the feared stimulus virtually always provokes an anxiety response or even a panic attack. Even though the anxiety is excessive or unreasonable, it is difficult or impossible to control.
